Philips Sonicare HX5752 Power Toothbrush Review

The Philips Sonicare HX5752 is a more expensive and more featured model than the more popular Sonicare Essence 5300. Is it worth the extra price? Let’s take a look.

Sonicare HX5752 Features

As with the 5300 model, the HX5752 features an excellent battery life of up to 2 weeks, which remains a great selling point for the Sonicare range. The package includes two contoured brush heads, as well as a travel case and of course the charger base. The unit has a 2 minute timer and can deliver up to 31,000 brush strokes per minute. So, this far, pretty much the same as the 5300 model.

In addition to the 2 minute timer, this model features what is called a Quadpacer. This emits a beep every 30 seconds. The idea is that you spend 30 seconds on each quadrant of your mouth, and once you hear the beep, you move on to a new one. This is handy, although it may not fit with everyone’s brushing style.

Sonicare HX5752 Performance

The Sonicare HX5752 performs as well as you’d expect from a Sonicare. One problem that seems to plague this particular model is a build up of saliva and toothpaste residue in the space where the brush head and the handle meet. This can be remedied by thoroughly rinsing this area, and be removing the brush head after brushing. This may not be a problem on all units of this model though.

Overall, we find it hard to recommend this toothbrush over the Sonicare Essence e5300. It doesn’t bring too many extra features to the party, and costs up to $20 more. For our money, the e5300 is plenty good enough.
